Notes:

In this image dating from the time of the first Taiwan Strait Crisis (1954-5), Chiang is depicted as a scarecrow that has been erected on Taiwan by the American military. The only human element of Chiang in this image is his cracked and disfigured head (which has been tied to a pole). Note also the colour of Chiang's skin (and its similarity to that of the American depicted here). Also present are some of the standard accoutrements associated with the Chiang uniform: white gloves, boots and a ceremonial sword.
