Abstract

Elizabeth claimed that Richard had defamed her by declaring publically that ‘shee the said Elizabeth Speight was a Devill and had the Devills marke on her, and called her whore forty times in the p[re]sence and hearing of divers credible witnesses’. Only the libel survives for this case.
