Abstract

Brian brought this action against Martha claiming the invalidity of her marriage. Witnesses deposed that, actually, ‘William Yonge clerke’ solemnized the ‘Matrymony betwixt them the sayd Brian Connyngham and Martha Bannester in manner & forme p[re]scribed and set downe in [th]e boke of comon prayer & the order used at other Maryages’. These witnesses also testified that ‘William Yonge hath bene & is commonlye acompted & called a full minister of gods holly word’. These documents, however, survive only partially and the case contains no sentence.
